GPT as a coder (cont.)

As I said there was another part of the test and we want to look deeper at whether Gpt can code something that works. So I gave it another Leetcode problem. It is still fairly simple but it involves charts, and I noticed Gpt is not quite as good with those. Watch what happens...

ChatGpt was a very disappointing coder. I felt very frightened by how deeply it failed, despite claiming to know the solution to the problem. The suggestion it made to not include a class made no sense at all. And the code had simply not worked. It was basically not true that you would not solve that problem yourself. Maybe one could give you some ideas, but there were hints provided (which were supplied to GPT.) I definitely want to tell people if this is a cheap trick for our money.

A little more on the positive side, I built an app with it that allows users to log in, and share photos.

I was quite disappointed in this app, which had a very unsecure and fickle log in. And it would not display anything with the images full size. It would not enlarge them, or show them across the screen. That it just placed them on the left side, when there was nothing else in the program, was one of the creepiest things I've ever seen in an app. I guess I wanted to say AI code does not really work. I wanted to say if you feel we should all lose our work because of it, I think we should not. Chat GPt-5 was very disappointing to customers. So I think it is fair to say something is wrong. It had probably not worked. I think the hard reality to face is that this article is about this major thing called AI. They are actually not here to stay. I guess that they would remain relevant through a lot of work and updating. But this is sort of a complaint about how they simulated my processes of thinking, and had not done them better. And I hope no one attacks me over it, and I hope I make someone's day.

In preparing this article I test other AI app creators I tried base44, Rosebud, and Replit. Replit had not been as advertised. It may have a similar concept to Wix, but is not useful beyond that. I could not create any game with rosebud, it had actually not worked. Base44 built me a game which was not functioning. I worked with it a while to write the code, but obviously I went past the rate limit, and it took another day. It certainly was not described. AI app creation is not here, and they will all delete your app for your chat/submission history, or maybe just for their suggestion. All of the sudden you have a blank screen. So these apps have move past being advice bots, but are not the coders they are purported to be.
