By Asa Montreaux

The selections for the 2022 Oscars rolled in, and the list of nominees excites all movie viewers. In the best picture category, nominees favored to win include, ‘Dune’, starring Timothy Chalamet, ‘Don’t Look Up’, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, and Jennifer Lawrence, and ‘Nightmare Alley’, starring Bradley Cooper. Timothy Chalamet said that “this nomination is even more important to us than the box office. We hope we were faithful to the novel and yet brought the story to life in a way only a movie can.”

In the best actor category, nominees include Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, and Javier Bardem. About his nomination, Benedict Cumberbatch said, “It was a tremendous achievement for the film, individually I wholly credit all the actors as greatly influencing my winning this award. Nominated for ‘Tick…Tick…Boom’, Andrew Garfield expressed that, “Getting to play Jonathan Larsson allowed me to channel that part of myself that is exactly what I wanted to channel though being an artist, getting down to the disappointments and the undying hope the work we create will live. I’m incredibly thankful to the director Lin-Manuel for doing a great job and for calling me, and I’m thankful towards the whole cast.’

Nominees in the best actress category include Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, and Kristen Stewart. Stewart said, “Any time you’re nominated, you look back and think you must have done something right. So it feels good as an artist to have critics recognize your work in a film.”
