Zombies 9.1

By Asa Montreaux In the next day the town seemed to regain its motion, and go about things as perturbed as could be expected. Sometimes people whispered about what happened, though he could hear no one was talking about them. It was very sad that someone had run inside. The day passed as they walked around in the compound, seeming to reach one end of the structure, and then the other only shortly after. They had walked back and forth through more than a few times. They relaxed in the house in the evening, listening as everyone went safely inside, and feeling more optimistic about the future again, after a bit of a scary occurrence. They went to bed feeling that they should be able to sleep well without any zombies for the time being. The night was quiet, though there wasn’t no commotion outside. They were fast asleep. They were startled awake, however, when there was a locking sound at one of the windows in the living room. Oh, dear, what was that. What could be out there ...

Zombies 8

By Asa Montreaux That night they settled in the house, and everything was rather quiet. The excitement of the meeting was something important, that scared everyone. Tom remembered the man who had ran in. He hadn’t been very nice. He wondered if he was a murderer, or a serial killer. Sort of the same thing, I suppose. For a long while in the night, though, it was quiet, and Nina had fallen asleep long go. Eventually he fell asleep, feeling more assured no person was going to try to hurt them. But late in the night there was something at the door, and it didn’t understand any instructions to go away. It was rabid, trying extremely angrily to get in, and all but eat them it would seem. It was very frightening.   He woke up to go see who was at the door and he was very distressed to see it was a zombie. He felt panicked, though he ran to the phone and called the Zombie control line. There was someone coming but it was at the door, and it was trying to come in. He grabbed a chair ...

Zombies 7

By Asa Montreaux It scared you though, hadn’t it? I mean zombies can think, and the like. I mean we won’t feel as bad about this war. It’s maybe even better for the planet. That’s hard to see, but maybe you’re not wrong I suppose. I’m not worried. One day we’ll have a normal life again, after the end of the world. And I’m sure one day birds will sing, and people will have children, and marry each other in large orchards. And there will be no war and no crime and everyone will be happy. Haha, you’re getting pretty good at telling jokes. You know I was really trying. Am I the funny one? I must be the serious one. I’ve been in the war. Oh my, that’s intense rather. I remember. I forgot you were a soldier. You’re not covering up ptsd, are you? I’d rather think not, can you read minds? No, I suppose not. But maybe you could tell. Every time someone is staring into a little place or not working at some task, they’re not having ptsd. That’s something that is whol...

Zombies 6

By Asa Montreaux At the meeting, everyone was present, and waited anxiously while the executive committee gathered with the proposal of nuclear warfare on everyone’s minds. Everyone seemed tense as they discussed how the missions results helped or weren’t enough. They said the men were very heroic and had actually risked there lives, and that they were not going to be able to continue the excursions. They had considered a weapon mounted on top of the vehicle, but feared it would be too dangerous for the person on top of the vehicle. Without this technique, there was little reason to think they could beat the zombies. They were hoping to move to nuclear attacks. They were thinking they would hold off voting on a choice whether to carry out the aerial attack. However, they thought they should take a vote considering the expansion of the compound, considering that it would be turned into a glass compound. They said that if the space was expanded, eventually they could invest in, or...

Zombies 5.2

By Asa Montreaux They are still running after us. They can’t keep up. But we won’t be able to attack from so close. We won’t be able to eliminate the whole zombie pack. But then they’ll proliferate. We’ll they can’t mate. The packs will continue to grow larger though. How can we be so sure this is safe? Maybe we need to switch to aerial combat. Then this area will be uninhabitable. We’d have to live in Mexico. But Mexico is incredibly zombie infested. Then we’d have to use an aerial attack there as well. Maybe we need another weapon. We could place someone on top of the vehicle, and they’d have a lot further range, but it’d be more dangerous. We can’t approach this closely. Until the end of the week, we’ll exterminate as many as we can from a further distance. Then we need to propose some changes. Some changes. I think we need a lot of changes. It’s almost over. And when it is it will be a lot better. Maybe we just need to exterminate them and build ...

Zombies 5.1

By Asa Montreaux At home with Nina, he felt a remarkable safety. It was scary being outside the grounds. He felt alienated from the world he used to know, by just how vicious the zombies seemed. He really didn’t want to be alone with them, and he hated that he had this duty to go and fight them. When he spent time with her, he felt lonely inside, because he couldn’t share that maybe it was unsafe going out there. He had just to reassure everyone they would all be okay. It made him feel a little more happy that she seemed to believe the zombies would be out of our lives one day. No one needed to know how unsafe he felt. That the zombies were coming into his nightmares. He hoped he wouldn’t start awake in the night, and then she would know that he was troubled, and that he was scared. He liked for her to feel safe, and if she couldn’t see he was reassured, he knew she would feel scared too. He talked about what he was experiencing with his fellow soldiers. They said they had si...

Zombies 4.2

By Asa Montreaux The next day some men came around the house late in the morning. They brought news about what the executive committee debated about. Tom was selected for active duty, thought not for the first tour. He’d have a short assignment the following week. They said they had made the assignments shorter at the expense of including only a few more men. He was shocked, and upset, and also intrigued at what it was going to be like. He hoped he would come home, and be fine within himself. They said he would be commanding the vehicles, and that one man would be using the weapon in the vehicle. The vehicles were all connected with radios, and there was a command within the compound. Had they discussed the safety further? They said they thought it would be unlikely anyone would die. The excursions are going to be shorter at first, and we won’t venture into any crowds of zombies, to develop these combat skills. They said the weapons are going to be extremely powerful. ...

Zombies 4.1

By Asa Montreaux The next day was quite normal. He noticed that everyone settled into themselves, and eventually sort of forgot all about those things. In another week he was called to a meeting, and learned while he was there that they were ready to make a small draft. But just about everyone will have to go into duty. No, we actually only need about half the men. So it really is a draft, or a kind of lottery. But some men are older, or maybe can’t go. We won’t need someone younger to be driving the vehicles. So there are some exclusions, not as many as you’d think. I don’t want to go out there. I mean even in a truck. What if they surround us? The chemical weapons should stop all of them. We wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t effective. We understood the mass size of the zombies at the time. Well I suppose so. I mean isn’t there some risk? There definitely is some risk. I mean it’s a war. No one doubted we have to fight it. No, there’s not much arguing w...

Zombies 3.2

By Asa Montreaux I'm not sure I can vote for this. I thought we were going to slowly kill them off. It seemed it was going to work. I know. At least that way we gave them a fight. But we have felt that excursions won’t be safe until there numbers have dwindled from the massive size they are now. Well maybe we only need chemical warfare at first. That could be a consideration. We didn’t say we expect to eliminate the whole species. Just until it’s safe again. I might vote for that. I suppose you might. We’ll have to discuss as a committee how long we might use the chemical warfare. We’ll then there will be something to vote on. That will determine when we will resume the excursions. If there’s nothing further on this issue then we should discuss in private now and reconvene shortly. Everyone here agrees, and wants to hear what decision you come to. The executive panel exited the room and went into a private suite, where they discussed the proposal behind ...
